Navajo (Dine') Weaving Navajo rug. Gallop Throw Rug. Antique Sampler Navajo Rug 1930's-1940's.
Several decades, Navajo weavers near the railroad stops would sell these rugs to tourists. Too small for rugs but perfect for the tourists to tuck under their arm boarding the train. They are typically called Sampler rugs or Gallup Throws. The end would be cut off from the loom and knotted to finish it fast. “All aboard!”
The colors are bright and vibrant for the age which is around 80 years old. The colors are Natural White, Black, and Red.
